About Us!
alphaActs is hatched from the commitment and creativity of our teachers and our Creative Director Leanne Jilani in 2007. With 17 years in the arts industry, including 12 years of teaching, Leanne is highly confident of the encouragement of the idea of a good spoken and written individual. After returning to Singapore from Perth where she went to university and later worked in the preschool setting there, she joined a well-known drama school in Singapore (with ties in the United Kingdom) and developed her interest in this field.
Leanne is a graduate of Murdoch University Western Australia, where is majored in Marketing & the Media, with minor in English language. She also obtained the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts (U.K.) certification, and is licensed to teach Speech Communication to any parts of the world. Leanne holds the certification for teaching phonics using THRASS (Teaching Handwriting Reading and Spelling Skills) from the UK and Australia. She also is a graduate of Early Childhood Education from the Australian Montessori Institute (AMI). She has written numerous scripts for her school plays, and loves to incorporate sustainable environment awareness in her stage message.
Our Philosophy
Our philosophy is to impart life-long reading and communication skills and to share and instill the beauty of the English language to children from as young as 3 years old. Our planned reading program encompasses numerous activities, namely phonetics-techniques, shared reading, high frequency words recognition, sentences building & writing and social-skills. Our communication program encourages children to be confident speakers and writers of the English language.
Our Teachers
Our English teachers are U.K. and Australian trained with THRASS, L.A.M.D.A., Guildhall and/or Trinity certification. We place high esteem in our programs where a lot of our students are now reaping the rewards of our programs and have applied this skill to their whole language achievement in Primary Schools.
